Trappists are a contemplative or ‘enclosed’ order.
In our enclosure (= claustrum) we live apart. We seek to fix our attention undividedly on Christ and to live as far as we can from His gospel.
The joys and sorrows of the world we carry with us in our prayer.
To this we are called as Trappists.
EXCLUSIVE FILMS
In this evocative, quiet space you can get to know our community personally through a series of short films on a large screen. Brothers speak about the abbey, about their experiences and about their life as monks.
You choose the subject that appeals to you, tap the film (touchscreen) and settle down comfortably. You watch as much or as little as you like. Please note: these films can be seen only in the Claustrum.
All the films are subtitled. You may use headphones if you find that more agreeable. This series of films is offered at two places in the Claustrum, so there is always room for you. Do take your time.

Visitors’ guide
A volunteer will always offer you our visitors’ guide as you come in. Would you rather make a short visit, a quick impression? The visitors’ guide takes you in 9 steps past the objects, artworks, texts and images in the Claustrum.

The Claustrum is open on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday
and Sunday, each time from 14.00 to 17.00.
Admission is free.
You reach the Claustrum through the visitor centre In de Vrede (opening hours).
There is ample parking.
